Cynon Safety Centre

The new Cynon Safety Centre will open it's doors in January 2020.  The centre has received funding from Welsh Government Communities, Facilities and Activities Programme which was awarded in October 2019.  This funding has been allocated to furnish the Centre that will provide a range of much needed local and accessible support services for all victims of domestic abuse or sexual violence.

Need

Following the merger of Cwm Cynon, Pontypridd and Rhondda Women's Aid organisations in April 2013, there has been a lack of local and accessible service provision for individuals experiencing domestic violence or abuse.  The centre will enable Women's Aid RCT to provide drop in, outreach and group programmes across the county with the same level of service provision available regardless of postcode within the county.

About

The Centre will also provide an opportunity to develop a multi-agency partnership approach to accessing services and will provide legal and housing surgeries on a regular basis.  The centre will also develop key links with voluntary and statutory agencies within the Cynon Valleys to enable other services to utilise the facilities as the Centre to provide a holistic approach to supporting individuals.

The centre will enable Women's Aid RCT to deliver group programmes including The Freedom Programme, Recovery Toolkit, ACE's programme for adults and children and young people, confidence building and assertiveness programmes and The Compass programme for male victims.

Facilities

The centre has disabled access and a variety of functional meeting rooms, creating a safe space for survivors of domestic abuse.
