Freedom Aberdare
About the course
This 6 week, programme is open to women who want to learn more about domestic abuse, whether they are in, or have left, an abusive relationship, and for those who have no plans to leave their partner. The Freedom Programme examines the roles played by attitudes and beliefs on the actions of the abusive partner and the responses of victims and survivors. The Freedom Programme also describes in detail how children are affected by being exposed to this kind of abuse and very importantly how their lives are improved when the abuse is removed.
This course is not about providing individual support or counselling, but it is about women moving on to abuse free lives and making new friends.
Aims
The course aims to help individuals to make sense of and understand what has happened to them, instead of the whole experience just feeling like a horrible mess. The most commonly held belief amongst victims of domestic abuse is that they are somehow responsible for the abuser’s behaviour. The Freedom Programme is designed to identify that this is not the case and to reassure women that they are not alone.
Booking
