About the course
This 6 week, programme is open to people who want to learn more about domestic abuse, whether they are in, or have left, an abusive relationship, and for those who have no plans to leave their partner but want to remain as safe as possible. The Freedom Programme examines the roles played by an abusive partner, their attitudes and beliefs, actions and the responses of victims and survivors.
This course is not about providing individual support or counselling, but it is about providing people with skills to move onto abuse free lives, with the added bonus of making new friends along the way.
The course aims to help individuals to make sense of and understand what has happened to them, instead of the whole experience just feeling like a horrible mess. The most commonly held belief amongst victims of domestic abuse is that they are somehow responsible for the abuser’s behaviour. The Freedom Programme is designed to identify that this is not the case and to reassure women that they are not alone.
The programme is delivered by trained facilitators experienced in supporting people affected by domestic abuse. The course is free; however, booking is essential. Booking is easy, just give our team a call on 01443 400791.
