Recently, a group of dedicated individuals led by Neil Griffiths, came together to complete the Welsh 3000's challenge, with the aim of raising money for two charities; Rugby for Heroes and Women's aid RCT.

About the challenge

In order to complete the Welsh 3000s Challenge individuals / teams are required to have been at the top of all 15 mountains over 3000 ft in Wales within the space of 48 hours.

The length is about 24 miles, but the walks to the start point and down from the finish point can take it to over 30 miles in total.

During the challenge the group walked, scrambled, climbed and visited all 15 summits. This achievement was only made possible with the support of volunteers, who helped with the administrative tasks and took care of the group after each day.

Team leader Neil Griffiths states

Many people ask why do I organise and take on so many challenges for charity, my first thought is, why not?

A quote that has stuck with me for many years is “one person can’t change the world, but one person can change the world for somebody.” If I can take on a challenge and inspire others to push themselves to their limits and achieve things beyond what they thought capable, all in aid of some fantastic charities, then the sacrifices are worth it.

In total, the team has managed to raise an outstanding total of over £4000 which will be split between Rugby for Heroes and Women's aid RCT.

Future fundraising

100 % of all money donated via team / individual fundraising activities is used to directly support individuals affected by domestic abuse living in RCT.
