Student counsellor opportunities

May 21, 2024 | Latest News, Volunteer News

We have opportunities for student counselling placements. Our placement opportunities provide students with first-hand experience of working with and learning about the emotional impact of Domestic Abuse on individuals.

We also welcome applications from counsellors who have completed their training and may be working towards accreditation or looking for an opportunity to support people in our community.

At RCTDAS we offer a free counselling service to the individuals we support. Volunteer counsellors play a vital part in our success and provide a much-needed service for individuals who otherwise may not be able to access counselling.

Requirements:

Volunteer Student Counsellors must possess at least a Level 4 diploma in counselling or psychotherapy, although a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or doctorate in these fields is also acceptable. Qualified Volunteer Counsellors are required to have completed a Level 4 diploma in counselling and at least 100 hours of one-on-one counselling sessions. They should be members of a professional body accredited by the Professional Standards Authority, such as the BACP. An Enhanced DBS check is also necessary.
